"My Old Kentucky Home"
is the official song of the State of Kentucky, and one of Stephen Foster's greatest songs. It was written in 1854, when Foster was 27 years old.
Four ukulele arrangements of "My Old Kentucky Home" are presented here. Click on the links below for your choice.
Melody -- This is just a simple arrangment of the chords and melody for the ukulele. You can use this to see how I built the clawhammer and bluegrass arrangements or you can use it to help you create your own arrangement.
Level 1 -- A basic clawhammer ukulele arrangement containing just the melody and the "bum-ditty" strum. If you need help with the technique, see my clawhammer uke tutorial.
Level 2 -- A more advanced clawhammer uke arrangement with drop thumb, slides, pull-off, and hammer-ons.
The MP3 was done in the clawhammer style.
Bluegrass -- This arrangement uses modified Scruggs style bluegrass banjo rolls mixed with the melody. The correct right-hand fingers to use are written below the tablature (T=Thumb, I=Index, M=Middle).
