Skull Strings' stainless steel is constantly protected by a passive layer of chromium oxide which forms on the surface as a result of the contact between the chromium and the humidity in the air because of their minimum chromium content of 17 %. Once this layer deteriorates, it regenerates by the same process. This makes Skull Strings electric bass guitar stainless steel strings extremely resistant to corrosion and oxidation.
