The Newport was Hamer's first hollowbody electric guitar design, penned by Jol Dantzig in 1999. This unique custom version is a one-of-a-kind guitar with an African Limba body and neck, which imparts an amazing and articulate timbre. Instead of the usual spruce, this example features an ultimate grade flame maple top, bookmatched and hand-carved to perfection by Hamer's artisans.The entire guitar is outlined with old-school cellulose nitrate "tortoise-shell" binding and the guitar is finished in Iced-T colored lacquer.Three custom calibrated P90 pickups are used and selection is made with a five-way rotary switch. Hamer remanufactures all of their Bigsby vibrato tailpieces to a higher tolerance and the result is one sweet ride.
