Hello. My name is Eric Hicks. I am getting ready to start a (low budget) recording project. I am looking for a mandolin player who might want to donate their talents to a couple of songs. They would need to have a way to record and files could be sent back and forth over the internet. If you think you might be interested in this please let me know.

Thank you,

Eric Hicks

I'll give it a go Eric.  I use Audacity with a pzm omni-directional mic usually. We have done this type of thing on ezfolk before; check out the TransAtlantic Jam Factory. If we work with .wav files, we can post toand download from my (still under construction site; http://mp3mart.net email me at blaki@mp3mart.net for login permission.

I am also willing to contribute, but don't want to step on Gerry's toes if he already "has the gig".

No worries Kurt, it should be interesting to hear how our interpretations vary.

I appreciate the responses. I plan to start working on this in the next couple of weeks. The first and third songs on my player, I feel, would lend themselves to having a mandolin in them. These are not the recordings that I plan to use, however you might check them out to get the feel. Being madolin players you would probably know what the madolins will work in better than I would. Let me know, after hearing them, if you are still interested. Thanks again.

I'll work on something with these recordings. If you like it fine, if not, no harm done; it'll be fun either way. Catch you soon.

I can't get the "Send Email" thingy to work from this forum... so, I placed a real quick and dirty (first pass) jam with your Good Time song at this URL:

http://www.rockyriverco.com/kurt/music/GoodTime.mp3

I don't know if this is the kind of thing you are looking for or not... I didn't do much chording, etc. Just basically jammed along with the song. I didn't take the time yet to write out the song structure, chord progression, etc... so this is just to give you an idea and see if you want me to continue working on something along these lines, go a different directions, or forget it altogether.

No hard feelings either way. Just doing this for fun.

Kurt
