Hi there mado-pickers!

I was wondering if any of you have played a resophonic mandolin. I've been plyaing mandolin for a little while now with dustbin threesome. Since we play only acoustic, I was forced to play a banjolin or banjoskin mandolin (what do you call it anyway?).
I was wondering if a reso mando was louder than a regular  mandolin. And if it is, is it allmost as loud as a banjolin? Anyone tried one of those (relatively) cheap johnson reso-mandolins? Are they any good?

By the way: is an ocatve mandolin actually an octave lower than a regular mandolin?

Cheers,

thanx for your reply, I  found out about the other stuff by now.
I bought a johnson resonator mando and I bought a Michael kellyf-style mandolin at elderly a few weeks ago.

The reso mando is not louder but has more bas and  mid in its sound.

I tried the national  resophonic mandolin and that baby was loud!!! Unfortunately allso quiet expensive, 1500 usd.

I allso  bought a vineyard tenor ukulele which I tuned to baritone, this baby has a tone sweet as honey, I greately recommend those vineyard ukes!

beybey,
Y.
