I love this time of year -- especially here, in New England...

Cool video Tony... How'd you embed it in the forums?

Hey Tony,

Great video, thank you for sharing the colors.

Happy Autumn to you as well. Also my favorite time of the year. I love the smell of the woods this time of the year. In days past I would wander for hours through the woods watching all prepare for approaching Winter. Unfortunately these old pins no longer will carry me for hours at a stretch like they once did. That's why, as I've recently discovered, there are perfectly sized rocks and felled trees along the way to set upon and rest. Brilliant the way Mother Nature sees to all we need isn't it?

All the best!

Peace,
Ed

Richard, I'm so sorry,

I didn't see your post until now...

The hardest part of embedding a flash video, (or radio station,) on the forum is getting the right url.

(Instructions below work in Firefox; may not work in IE.)

To get the url:

Select the video by click-dragging the cursor over it from top right to bottom left;

Right Click;

From popup menu, choose 'View Selection Source';

An html source page will pop up, with the embed code of the video highlighted;

Within the embed code, enclosed in quotes after <embed src= is the complete url of the video, including the embedded instructions that the forum editor will need.

Copy the url, making certain to copy all, and only all that is between the quotes.

Pasting the URL:

In the forum editor, click the flash symbol, (the stylised red "f".)

A popup will prompt you to enter the url.

Paste the url in the popup.

Click 'OK'

The BBCode for the video will appear in the forum editor page.

Enter the correct dimensions for the video, (you can get them from the embed code,) in place of the default dimensions.

I also found that I had to change some of the character codes in the url back to their original characters in order for all functions to work right -- for example, for the video to autostart, I had to change &autoplay=true to &autoplay=true.

Hope this helps.

Ed, thanks,

and thank you, especially, for sharing your love of Autumn, and for the wonderful words that carried me off into the woods and nature's lap even more effectively than my video could. We'll be leafpeeping in Vermont next week. I'll bring back pictures.

I have migrated my Autumn Song song-swap radio station to The Virtual Campfire. We're looking for more Autumnal songs and tunes to celebrate the season, so, if anyone has a song or tune they'd like to contribute, I'd love to hear from you. Please reply on THIS THREAD.

Peace,

Well, we've returned from our leafpeeping sojourn in Vermont, and I have had time to edit, upload, and organise the pictures we took. Links below:

I'll probably be adding some of these to next year's version of 'Autumn's Child' Video.

If anyone else has any Autumnal art, photos, music, or experences to share, please jump in!

Greetings Tony,

These photos are brilliant. Thank you for sharing your "leafpeeping" adventure. With the price of fuel, albeit off the top, getting to New England for the color change was out of the question this year. These photos are the next best thing, sans that lovely smell in the air anyway. There's a good bit of the change down here so I'll be off in the next few days taking snaps along the river and meadows. I'll share what turns up.

Thank you again for a great start to my day!

All the best!

Peace,
Ed

Greetings Tony and all,

My dear friend Linda Hickman's sister Ann, http://www.methetree.com created this video from photos she took of the Aspen trees in the Flat Tops Wilderness Area of Colorado. I hope you all enjoy the video.

I am down the Merrimac from you Tony and Cheryl Wheelers song "when fall comes to New England" pretty much says it all.

You do live just a hip and a skop from us!

You're right about Cheryl Wheeler's song. It is typical Cheryl, and PERFECT! She paints a picture with her words and music as very few can.

Here is a little more info on that song from
Cheryl's own site:
Cheryl's Song used for Nature Video (7 October 2008)

Boston's Channel 5 (ABC) aired a video of fall foilage on their show Chronicle. The background music was Cheryl's When Fall Comes To New England. I didn't see this show, but it must of been quite good. I got several e-mail messages about the show, and the visitors to her site jumped by about 50% after the show. http://www.thebostonchannel.com/chronicle/17606738/detail.html

I didn't get to see the show myself, but I wish I had...

Thank you so much for sharing,

Tony -

Nice video. I finally got a chance to see it.

One criticism I have - you need to make the "autoplay" equal "false". I really prefer to decide if and when I want to start a video (or mp3, for that matter).

My Opinion only.

I caught Cheryl Wheeler at the Bording House Park concert series in Lowell. Very funny at times. She played w/ John Gorka. I am also hoping to catch her at Clearwater this summer.

You're welcome Tony. The music behind the video is one of Linda's own compositions entitled "Waltz for Maureen". This and other great tunes can be found on her "The Windy Day" CD.

You can purchase her CD here:

All the best!
