In the 1990's, I was writing electronically-based music for theatre and dance as well as some pieces for string quartet and woodwind trio. Once I started college (at age 42, while working full-time), I put the music aside. I returned to acoustic music once I was out of my bachelor's program; I kept up with it when I worked on my Master's.

Early this year, I decided to return to my "career" in composing for theatre, film, dance, and chamber groups. I plan to complete a choral work based on the Tao te Ching that I started back then, and am transcribing some of my electronic works for string quartet.

None of this fits the E-Z Folk focus, but I will still be popping in from time to time. Thanks to Richard for the great site and all the encouragement, and thanks to all of the wonderful people I've met here. See you soon.

Gary

Paths twist at odd angles
Tunes echo off new walls
The home sounds of tomorrow

Good fortune in walking your path.
May it lead where you want to go.

Return when you can.
We'll leave the light on.

Gary-

Apparently the site has expanded enough to welcome electronic music, so don't be gone too long!

Hey Gary,

Your music is always welcome here, no matter what style it is, so drop by and share some of the new stuff with us. There are several genres you can put the new music in, and if you don't see something that fits let me know and I'll add a new genre. Here are some genres already here that you might consider...
  • Instrumental
  • Jazz-Modern
  • Miscellaneous
  • Neoclassical
  • New Age
Good luck with the new music. It's always nice to switch gears every now and then!

:thumbs1:

Glad to see there is a place. I guess I'll have to upload some stuff soon. I was afraid I was too for gone for EZfolk.

Brad, I'm surprised you'll talk to me now that I'm plugged in. :talk:

Hey- until you drop the Goodtime from your avatar, I'll think of you as an OT player.

(Incidentally, if you drop the Goodtime, I still have dibs on the bowler!)

Brad, you've got an incredable group going there!!! Good luck on your endevors Gary!!! I'm in the same boat (and have been for over a year and a half) that none of what I'm doing fits here anymore (mostly country and gospel from 30's - 60's) as it's not PD. I'm playing about 50/50 electric guitar/ banjo now. The electric banjo is out though, in favor of a pick-up equipped acoustic banjo (still my trusty CC100R!), much better sound:cool:

Hey Gary,  don't leave us

We are all open to any kind of music,  Well almost

Richard has made this site great for us and we all have our opinions some time but we know you and you still have that love for the old music, but some times you have to go where the money is.

When I first came to this site, I put a few songs here with drum background and then took them off for fear of banjo Brad ( just kidding ) Brad.    And now I am getting back to Bluegrass as I have a circle that has invited me in to their fold and I have found that most of them play old time also and seems that it is working out great.

Dean I have not put any new songs on the site in a long time, but I do alot of posting to the fourm to keep up with it all.

Please don't leave

Charlie

Knowing that I can post my new stuff will keep me from leaving; I'll probably have some new stuff up soon. I am happy that even Brad will continue talking with me.

I'm sure not going where the money is; I think there is even less money in this than in old-time/good-time. :talk:

Ooops. The Goodtime is gone, but I'll hold on to the bowler. Would you like a bow tie? ;)

Gary-

I'm just an ol' country boy livin' in the desert. If I need to dress up, a bolo tie is as close as I'll come to deliberity chocking myself!
