The Second Annual "From Soup to Nuts" concert will pick up where the
First Annual concert left off: with 'cellist extraordinaire Harry
Wimmer's lighthearted yet reverent approach toward classical music.
Wimmer believes strongly that classical music need not be stuffy or
highbrow, but should rather be dynamic, accessible and, above all,
fun. If you attend, expect plenty of jokes and laughter mixed in with
the music.

On the classical side of things, this year's program will
feature the Dvôrák Sonata, the Bach Suite No. 5 and the Grieg Sonata.
Wimmer will also be performing several love duets from the works of
Noel Coward and Cole Porter, accompanied by his wife, world-renowned
violinist Shirley Givens. To stir the pot even further, Wimmer and
his son, Kevin, a well-known Cajun-style fiddle player, will play a
set of traditional Cajun reels, as well as Jay Ungar's "The Lovers' Waltz"
. Pianist Edward Laurel will also accompany Wimmer. From soup to nuts, indeed!

Wimmer is a recognizable face in the New York City classical music scene, having performed in such notable ensembles as the Handel Society and the
Radio City Music Hall orchestra, with whom he was frequently a
featured soloist. He has also branched out of the classical realm performing and recording with such greats as Frank Sinatra, Paul McCartney, Melanie, John Denver, Tony Bennett and Liza Minelli. In addition, Harry has written a popular series of 'cello books entitled "The Joy of 'Cello Playing".

Shirley Givens, Wimmer's partner in life and music, is a violinist
best known for penning the popular Givens Method of Violin
Instruction. She was a child star, playing many performances, including
a command performance at the White House. She grew up to be an
in-demand concert violinist, playing all of the great venues and
repertoire. She is a faculty member at Peabody University, as well as Mannes College and Juilliard School of Music. A veritable who's-who in the classical music world brought their
children to study with her at one time or another, including Itzhak Perlman,
Pinchas Zukerman, Claude Frank, Phyllis Curtin and Herbert Blomsted.

Kevin Wimmer began his violin instruction under his mother's guidance,
but while a student of World Music at Wesleyan University, discovered
that he preferred the folk applications of the violin, and dabbled in
everything from Polka to Bluegrass before evetually moving to
Louisiana to study Cajun and Creole fiddle under such masters as Dewey
Balfa, Dennis McGee and Canray Fontenot. He has played and recorded with Linda Ronstadt, The Good Ol' Persons, New Riders of the Purple Sage, The California Cajun Orchestra, and more. He is currently a member of Cajun bands Balfa Toujours and The Red Stick Ramblers.
