Watch as they grow and ultimately leave the nest!  I'll add photos as days progress.

All the best!

Peace,
Ed

Well last evening as I was about to leave for our gig at Porter's there was one hell of a ruckus brewing.  When I went outside both adult robins were flying around frantically as they were trying to protect their four little ones.  They all left the nest at the same time and were scampering across lawns and the street.  I watched the goings on for a time and it seemed all four of these next generation lovelies were going to be fine.

New and the final photos will be up this morning.  Unfortunately I did not get any as they tried to fly.  I was too busy making sure the cats and cars didn't make short work of them.

It's a wondrous world in which we live!

All the best!

Peace,
Ed

Hi Ed, we've been enjoying the same with a couple families of robins and cardinals in our garden.  Now the doves and rabbits are leaving their young there too as a kind of daycare, I guess.  It's a kind of suburban sanctuary for them with lots of trees and greenery to hide in.

Nature is indeed wondrous, and I think the true source of our creativity.

Peace!  Ron

We seem to have a nest of robins each year on our front porch, but I can't get as good a shot as you did. That's a great series of pics Ed.

Greetings Ron,

Aye, nature is indeed a brilliant inspiration!  'Tis the rhythm of our world that has brought about our music I believe.  The gurgling of a creek, the rustling of the trees, the howl of the wind, the crashing of the waves, are deeply set rhythms with-in us.

What a great image your words, "Now the doves and rabbits are leaving their young there too as a kind of daycare... It's a kind of suburban sanctuary...." conjured up for me, thank you.  We too have a pair of cardinals nesting somewhere close as I see both adults nearly everyday.

Greetings Jim,

This is the second year we've been blessed with such a treat but alas last year has only been captured in our memories and not on film, well rather digitally anyway.  I trimmed the top of the evergreen in the Autumn of '07 when we had the awnings installed.  That left a "cupped" bit at the top and it seems such is just perfect for nest building and as well watching the next generation come along.  I now miss my four little friends as I sit on the porch and enjoy my morning tea.  They've yet to come for a visit even if only to scold me for setting off the camera's flash in their eyes.

All the best to ye both!

Peace,
Ed

Thanks for posting such great photos, Ed!
Here at our house, we had bluebirds hatch three young in a box outside our kitchen window and a robin nested in a lilac outside a front room window. It appeared only one young robin hatched/survived. What a joy it's been to watch!

a' best wishes,
Robin
