I've been attending this for years. Looking forward to the next one. It is a wonderful event filled with great music. Check out the price!

Thanks for posting this early, Phil. I was a member of the Baltimore Ethical Society when I lived there and therefore have a soft spot for Ethical Society events. Looks like a great place to bring the Luna acoustic if I can arrange the time off.

Edited to add:

I guess I'd have to open a facebook account to see the info, though. I'll have to ponder that one. :(

Link takes one to a sign "in" or "up" page, double clicking not withstanding. You'd think they'd have an announcement on their website as well as on a site like Facebook that requires joining to view such.

All the best!

Peace,
Ed

Actually, this is the first time that they've posted anything earlier than late summer. I believe the Facebook page is an offshot of the guy who runs the event.

If you're not on Facebook, I recommend that you consider signing up. It's a fast way to stay in touch. Doesn't replace e-mail, but it's a good way to promote music, chat, meet people. Through a sub-set of their set-up, a friend on mine had a friend. Turned out I dated her way back when. Haven't seen her since the '60's. Small world.

Back to the event: It takes place at the beautiful Ethical Culture Society Brooklyn headquarters, directly across the street from Prospect Park (a hugh gem of a place). Usually, the music spills over in the park by late afternoon.

If they follow the same plan, Friday evening is given over to concerts. Saturday is workshops and jamming for six hours followed by more concerts.

People come from all over the region.

Price: $4. That's four dollars.

Added a few minutes later: This shot was taken early on Saturday afternoon. Only about 50 pickers there. But by mid-afternoon, there could 300 pickers. Only place I've ever been where there were as many banjos as guitars. And mostly everyone knows their stuff.

I may just make it this year, though it is a bit of a trek. As for Facebook, I will probably sign up one day but there gets to be so many of those sites and it becomes a chore to keep track of them all, update them, etc. What with working two jobs and a private practice, time gets scarce sometimes. :?
