Very nice. I got to try one of those at the Fiddle Shop in East Brookfield. It has a beautiful sound. Congratulations.

Excellent choice! A good friend has what I think is the same (or very similar) model. Lovely warm, rich tone. Very playable. It will support a voice or a solo well. Congratulations. I hope the other critters aren't jealous.

Thanks, guys. I am busy integrating the new addition into the heard ;) .

I played one of these one summer in the early '60s at a church camp and have always remembered it. Granted, the new one isn't "vintage" Martin, but it is Martin, and I want it really for how it sounds as accompaniment to fiddle tunes. To my ear, it has the proper "Old Time" music sound, which will just get better as it gets played-in.

I had a Favilla mahogany guitar. (An of brand really, it was made by Favilla but didn't have their name on it.) I traded it away when I got my old Gibson. Not that I'd part with the Gibson, but the mahogany sound is sweet.

Brad, what a beautiful guitar.  With this Martin and the Chuck Lee banjo, your are building a fine "herd."  I just looked up the price on the Martin.  I'm glad the economy is doing so well in Arizona.  Here in Utah it's not so good.  I'll be retiring at the end of June after 37 years of teaching.  I hope my retirement income will be enough to live on.  After what just happened to my 401k, I'll be postponing any musical purchases for a while, or at least until I get a divorce. lol

I am like Brad,  I bought a little Martin and its not vintage,  But the sound is good and I wanted to own a martin and the LXM was the only one that was in my price range.

I listen to your sound clips and you have not forgot how to play and with more time on it ,   Wow

Hope that Chuck Lee don't get jealous.

Charlie

Hey Brad

That guitar sounds sweet! The clip just immediately made me think I was in some dusty western town - cool! :)

Dan :)

Thanks, all. Yeah, I ran into a little extra money when an oil drilling company wanted to lease the mineral rights on some land my mother had kept the rights to. Kind of a lucky strike, so to say. If they hit anything, I'll get royalties.

Been playing both the Chuck Lee and the Martin quite a bit around the house, and even played some backup at last month's circle (recordings on the TOTMC ezFolk page).

I need to try to get some recording done soon.
