This is a Friday night, all day Saturday event that should not be missed by any one in the region. I've been going every year since I found out about it. Great workshops, concerts and ambiance (right in the middle of vibrant Park Slope, Brooklyn) with Prospect Park acrss the street... but what makes it for me is the all day jam with quality people.

And check the low prices!!!!

There a zillion (more or less) great places to eat all around or buy food and refreshments there. Or brown bag it. There is no sales pitch and no one will push petitions  on you to sign. This is just a lot of our music.

If any EZers plan on attending, ket me know and we can link up.

This was a great event!

I spent six hours jamming with mostly high quality bluegrass and old time musicians. But there were blues players, C&W. folkies there as well. During the open jam, about 250 people would form  groups, jam a while and move on to other circles. It was simply great music. At times the musicians spilled over into Prospect Park across the street.

I ran into people I knew in Washington Square in the 60's, a guy I knew in high school, people from previous events at BEC and made new friends.

Workshops including Dave Laibman on ragtime fingerpicked guitar, clawhammer banjo, fiddling, mandolin, guitar repair and a few more. They had some intersting genre films looping in a room to watch and relax with.

Then some serious concerts running from 6PM till midnight including a New Lost City Ramblers Reunion. BTW members of the NLCR gave some of  the work shops.

People came from all over the metro area, but from outside the area as well. I played with a guy from western PA who was there for the second time. Next year I intend to take in even more of the events. This is worth the trip for a lot of you.

And let me repeat, the entrance fee for Saturday... all day... was $4. That's not a typo.
