Carrie, have you ever heard of a guy named Merle Travis? What about Chet Atkins? If it's new to me, does it qualify as "new music"?

That's who I'm listening to. Who has time for fly-by-night artists on MySpace when there's already so much good music out there already?

For some reason, your post made me think about Todd Rundgren. Anyone care to venture as to why?

I love Old Crow Medicine Show.  They are amazing.   I have two of their albums: "O.C.M.S" and "Big Iron World"  My favortie song is actually a Bob Dylan cover.  It's called "Wagon Wheel", but Dylan's song was called "Rock Me Momma".  Another great song is called "I Hear Them All", with a great harmonica part.  There are videos for both of these songs online.  I really hope you check them out.

Edited to remove my remarks until it is clear this isn't a promo-type post. The originator has posted almost the exact question on several other forums and shows only one post each on those forums.

Hey Folks,

I think Carrie is probably a fan of Phil Vassar and is possibly looking for other fans. I'm fine with that.

By the way, Phil Vassar is not only a popular mainstream country performer but he's also an unbelievably talented musician, singer, and songwriter.

being a novice uke player, i found my inspiration from jake shimabukuro.  once i saw him on youtube, i was hooked on the music and the instrument.  i also love the yoshida bros, they play the shimisen.  sounds like a banjo(as much as a japanese instrument can), and am hooked on that too.  i like the banjo, but mostly instrumental, so if anyone knows a great banjo player who does instrumental songs, plz give me names, ill give anything a listen
