Hey guys, it's serina and i'm getting really frustrated with writing music. lately, been really experiencing writer's block and when something does come along, peoples are saying it isn't good enough. where do you guys get your inspiration from when you're writing? i know i get mine from my boyfriend, friends, listening to music--just listened to canton jones's Hater Day on his myspace.com/kingdombusiness08 page and the lyrics are so meaningful. anyone heard of his music? new songs are popping up every now and then so he really is inspiring. can't wait till i see him perform on his Hope Nation tour with some friends from Fontana when he gets here in May because  correct me if i'm wrong but right now he's on the east coast. so yes, that's me...how bout you? where do you get your inspiration?

Is this a genuine question, or a shameless plug for someone's music?

Here is your first mistake: "when something does come along, peoples are saying it isn't good enough."

Don't play your stuff for others until it is finished, and you are sure it is good. Folks' opinion in the middle of the writing just hampers the creative process, in my opinion.

I see I was suckered into a stupid advertisement. Silly me...the old "faith in human nature" never fails to get me.  No, I don't find Canton Jones' lyrics inspiring. They're stupid and childish and exactly the kind of words/music I try to stay away from. Just a harmless opinion, mind you.

This is what I consider to be deep lyrics, deep playing (rather than playing a drum machine), etc:

Was that first post a bit of spam? Eh, that's pretty sneaky!

Maybe I'll give it a try.
