Hey Tor.

I signed in, so I thought I'll drop you a line.
Now I have to explore this place and find my way round.

Hey Jesper,

I was just wondering, what with all your cartoons etc etc, is the name JESPER actually just the Danish spelling for our word JESTER? :joker:

Cheers
Dick

Very funny, Dick :D
No seriously, if you want to know the origin of the name (which you might not, but now you get it anyway ;))
I have an old card with an explanation, and after that a description of what a person with this name is like.
Jesper is the danish form of the german name Jasper (you know that in english too). It comes from the name Casper, the name of one of the three holy men who came to visit baby Jesus.
Later Jesper has become a common name in Denmark.

And then what am a Jesper like: " Jesper is a funny man. His humor gives him many friends. A good heart and generosity are two of Jespers many good sides. A friend for life!"
Now isn't that something? It is good reading when I have the blues.:)
And luckily it doesn't say anything about my bad sides. But I guess my wife could tell you a lot about them :D

Hey, sounds like your name is very appropriate after all Jesper. ;)

Anyway, I just checked up on my own name & for Dick it says:

"It is of English origin.
A rhyming nickname from medieval times.
Richard (Old German) "dominant ruler", was shortened to Rick, then rhymed to Dick"

I had always thought it was English, but now that I know of it's Old German connection, it's perhaps not so surprising that I have a German wife!
Although a "Dominant Ruler" I am not! :(

..... certainly not in our household! :help:

Cheers
Dick
