Since Gary Blanchard "forsook" the acoustic folk/Old Time side for the Dark Side, I have inherited the Bowler, symbolizing the music so near and dear to our hearts. I herewith present it to the ezFolkers as a tribute to John Hartford!

Brad

(Gary, I will wear it proudly and with reverence!)

Brad -

It looks almost as good on you as it did on me. :talk:

I have not totally forsaken the old-time/good-time music, but the dark side of electric music has the most pull at the moment. I still have reserve bowlers ready for the time when I am drawn back to the light!;)

Enjoy it, and wear it proudly.

Gary-

You'll notice I picked the Uke as my weapon of choice for the photo! Saving you some room for re-entry!

Thanks for everything.

Shemrock - you have noticed that my last name is Bradbury, I trust, old man. Pip pip, cheerio, and all that rot!
Time to go out in the midday sun!

I think we should form a trio.

That's yours truly playing the banjoreo in front of some of the girls.

Well, I had a headstart. I started with an existing tenor neck. And since no more derbies have shown up, I'll mention that I'm building another banjo. Bought a tenor which had a resonator at the LI Fiddle Festival. Between what I can salvage from the tenor and dig out of my basement and a few careful purchases, I'll end up with number six.  I love all my children.

Since the bowler has been passed, I needed a new chapeau!! :D  I think this one fits many of my musical styles. (I still have several bowlers in reserve. ;))

The picture was taken last weekend at the Guthrie Center in Great Barrington, MA. This is the church made famous in Arlo's telling of the Alice's Restaurant Masacree. The center was closed, but it was great to be able to visit.

Very becoming, Gary! That really looks good on you.

Of course, the matching overcoat has to appear everytime the beret does! Make it a little hard to frail, but I guess it would work with your other styles.

I can be seen wearing a bowler and playing the uke in this (poor-quality) video from a Halloween party: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2LIiZJy-vc

Why, thank you!
I plan to paint the back of it today, clear coat it tomorrow, and have it reassembled in a couple of days.
