Ever feel like the world is running away and you can't catch up? I used to spend several hours a day on the web, and now it's more like sneeking some time at work. My slow home computer (7 years old) I used to record with plays everything like Alvin and the Chipmunks now, and I don't have the time to worry about it or figure out why. I checked my site here and it's changed so much i don't have the time to figure that out either. Web pages are getting so complicated, my computer spins like mad trying to play and download and just open websites...often to no avail...but the bad part is that I really am caring about it less and less. I've told my wife that if my computer ever craps out, it would be like freedom to not replace it. If I had 1K to put into a new computer...that means I would probably be looking at new banjos or Telecasters:shock: Times change and so do priorities. I play for hours every day. If I'm awake and nothing else is in dire need of my attention, I'm playing, and there's never enough time to play the songs enough to get them just right. That's time I used to spend on the web or writing corney blues tunes. Only trouble is now everything I play is usually copywrittian material. Last I counted, our play book has over 260 songs in it. I remember how cool it was just to be able to play one song all the way through. I still visit here every day and read a little (usually from work) but just don't have the time to chill out and replay. I'm on some other forums as well, but less and less these days. I wish there were 48 hours in a day, 24 to take care of business, and 24 to do your own thing. Well...at least I can dream about retireing...it's not that far away...

:agree:

And you were afraid that you would get bored if you retired!

Upgrade the computer while you're still working - it will be valuable to you later, even if you can't hang around here (or that other site). Take advise from your elders, Dean.

I second what Brad said,   I never thought I would ever need a computer for anything and would never spend the time that I do on it.  It helps keep my mind on things and doing research on things that I would have never have learned any other way and that encludes music and playing a instrument.

I do buy and sell on ebay a lot and make spending money for my hobbies as my wife calls them.

As you do retire and dream of doing all the things that you thought you would have time to do just don't seem to work out,  A friend of mine said the first thing he did was buy him a big fishing boat and fish ever day and that lasted 3 months and now he wants to go back to work and has sold the boat.

Some one else that has retired give us your thoughts about this also.

Charlie
