Anyone know how to tighten the skin on one of the old camp style Ukes? Here are two pics of it. http://picasaweb.google.com/LowcountryStrummers/UkuleleBlues?feat=directlink Does anyone have a picture of the correct bridge or dimensions of the footprint of the bridge? This is a replacement and I want to make something at least similar to the original. Have no idea what the original looks like. Last edited on Mon Mar 2nd, 2009 11:02 am by UkuleleBlues |

I gather that 'Camp' refers to the round body shape of the uke.. though i believe is named after a perticular ukulele manufactured by Gretsch in the 20's whith a round shape body. Ive never heard of a banjo uke given this nick name though.. Anyway, all banjo ukes are pretty much the same in the way the skin tightens. I cant see the tension ring on your photo, but have a look underneith and there shoud be maybe 6 tension nuts with a hex type head.. just tighten these evenly. if you cant see these, they maybe hidden under the resonator plate.. if it has one. As for the bridge, just use a two feet, four string x 1/2inch high. The majority of banjoukes use these.
