Where should the erhu be placed on the lap and what angle should it be turned at. When I try to imitate what I see professionals do it doesn't work. The bow gets stuck in between the two strings and it is hard to play. I know I'm doing something wrong, but I don't know how to fix it. Any advice???

Have someone take a video or at least a photo of you playing erhu. You can upload the video to Youtube and post the link here, or post a message with the photo. That should help us figure out what you are doing. Did you view the videos on the Eason website? The one by Chen Jiebing should be helpful, as well as the one titled "How to bow the erhu". I highly recommend finding a teacher for the erhu. Even if you have to travel somewhere to get one lesson, you will save yourself a lot of time and trouble. Best wishes, David

lol sadly Charlotte, North Carolina is not a city with a big asian popluation so there are very few teachers of any traditional chinese instruments. Thanks! I think I figured out what I was doing wrong. I put the bow hair in the wrong spot.
