My new erhu had a strip of transparent tape on the neck which had marks showing the finger positions for the D scale. But I had no way of knowing if the printed scale was right for the string length, which depends on the placement of the qianjing and bridge. It also made me want similar scales for other keys. So I made the attached Excel spreadsheet to calculate the finger positions for the keys of D, F, G, A, and B-flat, and the corresponding keys for the zhonghu and gaohu. Just input the distance between your qianjing and bridge in centimeters, and you'll get the distance from the qianjing for each note. Enjoy.
