Hi

Since when the forum is back to the old one? I'm a bit confused.  I noticed there are posts on both forum.  Anyway, I like this format as compared to the previous one.

Ha! I'm wondering the same Jeen.

But all I know we're glad to see Clyde back actively in THIS forum.

Sorry for the confusion. We came back to this forum after three weeks of using the other one. We were changing because of security issues and no updates for the WowBB. I then found that it was being updated by someone else so we were able to come back to this one, which most people seem to like better and where we already had about 37,000 messages stored.

I redirected the main page of the other one but if you have a direct link to a forum under the main page you're still able to get to the other one. Since there were several hundred messages in the other one that I couldn't transfer back I didn't just want to delete them all immediately.

Anyhoo, bottom line is we're back to this one and should be using it for a long time to come.

Hey there Clyde,  good to see your thoughts, and inspiration again.  I might not have mentioned ,  I would probably not stuck with it if it hadnt been for Clydes total understanding of how it is to be a new guy,  so now I am an 8 month old new guy and hangin'  in there.

Hey Den,
Seriously, me too. If it wasn't for Clyde's posts and willingness to answer my stupid newbie questions in the beginning, I wouldn't be slacking at work by reading and writing posts here almost everyday before.

Great to see the old gang back and new faces here.

Does anyone know the difference between 好一朵茉莉花 (don’t know how to translate this) and 茉莉花 (Jasmine Flower)? I have seen the former on Youtube and it does not sound the Jasmine Flower that I have been practicing. Are they two different scores? Thanks.

Will

Dear Will

There are a few songs with the same song title as 茉莉花。The melodies are all different.  So far , there are 3  which are the most common one.

1. 好一朵茉莉花 also known as 茉莉花,or  鲜花调  江苏民歌, su bei min ge
eg. http://www.imusic.cn/player/play.asp?id=209390|

from the 1st song, you can hear there is a combination of 2 茉莉花 melodies. ie。1st song  & 2nd song combine  together.

2. 茉莉花,苏北民歌 jiang su min ge
http://www.imusic.cn/player/play.asp?id=135102|

3. 茉莉花,陕西民歌, shan xi min ge
eg  http://www.imusic.cn/player/play.asp?id=133695|

the 3rd song, I believe you will be more familiar, it is the same Jasmine flower played by Kenny G.

I have another Jasmine flower, is a combination of 1st song & 3rd song's melodies, but it is in mp3 format, I don't know how to attach the file for you to listen.

Hi Jeen,

Thanks for the response. The score of 茉莉花 in my instructional book has it as jiang su folk song. It sounds little bit of what you have in your response (very little). I also got a copy of 好一朵茉莉花 from http://www.nbjsfl.com and it also has it as jiang su folk song. I saw rendition #2 sung by soprano Song Zuying on Youtube. Do you where I can get a copy of the score (rendition) #2. Thanks.

Will

I haven't been able to hear the 3 versions posted by Jeen as I'm on dial-up at the moment.

In a book I've got, the tune titled 好一朵茉莉花 (Hao Yi Duo Mo Li Hua, link 1.6MB mp3 128kbps) is the same tune as what is called 茉莉花 (Mo Li Hua) elsewhere. So I assume they are just different titles for the same tune. I think this is the most well known version of "Molihua".

There is also another "Molihua" from Jiangsu, or maybe Zhejiang, which is very similar to the one in my link, but with a slightly different melody. I haven't heard of the Shaanxi "Molihua".

Mp3s can be uploaded to file-hosting sites such as Rapidshare, Mediafire etc.
