Since I started playing my Erhu I noticed that when i tried to play the note A on the D string it sounds like three notes being played at the same time. The same thing happens when I play this note on the outter string and the higher the note the scarier the sound. I can make the other notes sound decent and well...but that A is killing me.

I just bought a new pair (silver and gold at: http://www.eason.com.sg) and will try and hear if this will fix the problem. Did anybody has a similar problem?

At times there are a few reasons why one drags the strings as it is called one check your with of the string mount on the bridge next check your bow hair see if it is bunched up some need to be trimmed and one or the most common reasons is the angle of the bow in motion to the strings.
If your a beginner this is the most common problem make sure that your bow moves evenly and close to the neck of the Erhu.
Bow movement is the most important technique to learn first before anything else.
At times a teacher will trim the bow hair on a beginners bow to make it easier for th student to make contact with each string ( A&D) in this case. so make sure you have enough room between the strings to keep one from dragging on the other.

The angle of my bow is ok since the other notes come up pretty clear, but that was pretty good input from you. Thanks a bunch.

I also read here that one needs to change his bow from time to time (an year for a person who is not a professional). i read it ehre: http://tansungwah.blogspot.com/

I also bought diferent bridges to see and hear if this will fix the problem...

Bridges do help in selecting tones however the with of these bridges can help how far apart the strings are postioned.
If your bow is made of quality bow hair then it should last you a very long time.
When a musician can feel that the string does no longer hold rosin as well  and the drag is not as smooth then it is time to change.
But if one can't tell the difference then a year would do sufficiently

I wouldn't if it's like working for you then leave it alone.
You know if my bow hair starts to com apart then I will change it no mater what but as long as your happy with it well keep it right?

Bow care
K" this is a repeat, however good to note down
In caring for your bow hair it is possible to wash it carefully with a NON conditioner soap or shampoo,  air dry it naturally do not use hot water.

Try not to get the wood part of the bow wet, either tape it of cover it somehow.
Any time you change bow rosin this process should be repeated.
If you use heat to dry the bow hair it will shrink or tighten so becarefull.
If you have a good bow you should be able to keep this bow for many years with the proper care.

God Bless

By the way, Sung Wah (http://www.eason.com.sg) told me why I had "noises" on my 'A' notes. It was the lack of a dumper (see this picture: http://www.eason.com.sg/products/pics/erhu/large/HEH37-3.jpg). I was so excited that now I can play the songs I am studying and don't get frustrated with that squeaky sound anymore.

But the best thing is that I found out that he is starting online classes. He said that on September 16 he will post the details for these classes. If you want to know more read his blog: http://tansungwah.blogspot.com/2008/08/first-and-only-online-erhu-classes-in.html.
