hi,  my first post here.  I am just starting to learn the Erhu too.  When the Erhu is tuned to 1=D,  my understanding is that 3 is F#,  can anyone tell me  how flats and sharps for other notes are notated in Jianpu?  For example, what does D# look like in Jianpu.  thanks.

Accidentals in jianpu are shown with the sign before the note. So, in the key of D=1, a D# would be #1.

This is described in the jianpu article at wikipedia.org.

Best wishes,

David

thanks David,  this leads to my next question.  If 2=E and 3=F#,  what's F in Jianpu?

I was reading around various topics and think you might find some answers in the topic labeled    erhu learning to play     started by Clyde.

If you click the erhu segment of the thread it should open you a page of topics,  between the 2 pages there are nearly 70 topics and  "erhu learning to play" is one of those listed.

the first page of the topics commences to answer which fingers are numbered and which notes correspond.

I have been here only a month and still have a lot of reading to do to catch up on all of these pages available,   so much good stuff here !!

Hmm. I don't recall that appearing in the traditional music I usually play on erhu, but I would expect it to be a natural sign to the left of 3. If the tune is in D minor, or a mode that resembles D minor, in which key includes F natural, the tune would most likely be notated in F (.6 3), which provides the requisite key signature for D minor.

Best wishes,

David
