When surfing the net in class breaks, I always bump into some weird things. This is no different with Erhus. I thought I might open a thread for all those mutant Huqins that most of us find weird. The thread is open for everyone who bumps into something out of the real world or off-the-boat Erhu concepts, ideas, or just weird aesthetics...

To start the show, folks, I present you with a real doubleheader. The two of a kind Bi-Resonator Erhu with a double box and a bridge that really bridges the huge gap between the two snake skins. Might be a double the volume but half the tone thing.

I bet the idea was stolen from the Tricone National Resonator Guitar that the Dopyeras made in the 1920's. That model has three aluminum resonator cones and a T-shaped bridge between them on which the strings are suspended.

So, who wants to build one?...

Another Japanese idea. Build a bamboo huqin with a row of LED diodes in the resonator box and the neck that blink when the bow resonates the drum. Nice at Christmas when the lights are switched off... Another pic shows that this one is stuffed with several meters of wire within the resonator box. No further commento...

Jack, these are all hovering somewhere in cyberspace.

Another shot of the doublebox Erhu. Does one need two CITES permits for these???
