Hey All! Ive been reading some sheet music and ive come across some stuff i dont kno how to read. Maybe you guys could help. First, http://www.summerthundermusic.com/index_files/SE_data/HongHuShui-LangDaLang-01.jpg ,in the beginning of this piece there are little notes above the main melody line. i was wondering if that was a slide or maybe an ornament. Second, http://www.summerthundermusic.com/index_files/SE_data/ZZD/ZiZhuDiao-ErHu-1.jpg ,this piece, at around the 29th measure, has two notes on top of one another. how would one play that? (btw i got all these images from http://www.summerthundermusic.com/index_files/repertoire.htm they have a complete list of their repetoire and the sheet music for it for a multitude of chinese instruments.) Thanks guys! Last edited on Wed Sep 26th, 2007 11:52 pm by o0bagel0o ____________________ "For me, music making is the most joyful activity possible, the most perfect expression of any emotion." Since I am an erhu newbie, this are my "educated" guesses: In some of the Erhu song sheets I have, there is an intro, and sometimes, accompanying throughout by another instrument like Yangqin. Maybe it's the same case for "HongHuShui". As for ZiZhuDiao(Erhu), I think it's for two erhus as it's marked Erhu I and Erhu II. So the two Erhus will play in unison till measure 28 , and then split into parts from measure 29 onwards. The first erhu will play the top line and the second erhu will play the bottom line. Playing 2 notes on different strings at the same time on the violin isn't a problem but I am not sure if it's possible to do that on the erhu as the bow is in between the two strings. Here's a youtube video of the first tune hong hu shui lang da lang: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rOULRxFML4 The score in the link is not specifically written for the Erhu so you might have problems trying to reach some of the lower notes. Sung Wah
