Hi Clyde,

Thanks for your prompt reply. but I don't see master Wan Qi Xing's signature as the picture you attached in the following product sold by Eason Enterprise (Sung Wah):

http://cgi.ebay.com/Wonderful-Professional-Suzhou-Aged-Rosewood-Erhu_W0QQitemZ7420923913QQihZ016QQcategoryZ308QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

i'm wondering it's genuine one or not.

thanks.

Hi Clyde,

Thanks for your great info.

Most likely i'm closer to the decision. well, i'm interested both of these, but those made from different wood.

http://cgi.ebay.com/EBAY-UNIQUE-Gorgeous-Chinese-Black-Sandalwood-Erhu_W0QQitemZ180048601855QQihZ008QQcategoryZ623QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

and

http://cgi.ebay.com/Wonderful-Professional-Suzhou-Aged-Rosewood-Erhu_W0QQitemZ7420923913QQihZ016QQcategoryZ308QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

Both items, i've contacted the seller by email, Anson and Sung Wah and they are quite convincing in term of their knowledge of erhu.

well Clyde, what do you think which one is better considering the material/wood?sound we cannot gues since we cannot here right, but based on the description from the seller, both are grand and rich. Mellow?not sure, it's difficult to describe this, depends on how we play right?:D

thanks again Clyde.

regards,

Lim

Ok Clyde, thanks very much for the sharing . i think i will chose that black sandalwood. it's very glad to know you guys.

by the way, do you have a complete guide on how to play erhu and how to write the notation (especially ornaments, vibratos and lefthand shifting technique).

thanks

Hi all,

For my birthday gift, my friend gave me an Erhu he had brought back from Hong Kong. I am quite new to this instrument, and I very appreciate all of your posts here to instruct newbies like myself.

After 2 days of searching the Internet, and couple hours of practice, I know how to tune up the string and learn to use the bow. Though the sound is still awkward, I am so happy, and keep practice.

By the way, can anyone tell me where I can by parts like strings or a new bow in Los Angeles, California. I live in Orange County, CA, which is in the neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Thank you all.

Thank you, Clyde, for your kindness and quick response.
Your info is very helpful. I may try the store next time I visit San Francisco.

Kung Hei Fa Choi, everybody.

Can anyone tell me something about the overall quality of octagonal Erhus made in the Minzu music instrument factory of Tianjin? I found an affordable one on the net that I really love for appearance, but dunno if they are a good bet. Anyone, who can say a word?

Thanks.

B.
