Andy seems to rate this as a banjo for a player of any level. Seems like a good deal compared to others that he puts in that category.

Anyone used one?

All the best,

Harry.

It looks to me, like a direct competitor to the Gold Tone WL250. If it's anything like their Gold Tone CC100 knock-off, it will be pretty good, and good value. Ozark distribute some right old tat, but they sell some nice instruments as well

Andy isn't usually far wrong in his assessments, either. Obviously he isn't going to say 'this is the cheapest banjo you can buy, and sounds like it' but at that price he can afford to be honest. If you really want, usually if you ring and he isn't too busy he will play one for you over the phone

Hi All,

Just FYI. I got one of these from Andy (thanks for the contact). It was further recommended to me by a very good player here in Ireland. I showed it to my teacher; he'd heard they were good but he hadn't played one... he was blown away by how it's made, how it sounds, how it looks, and what it cost!

He says he's seen people pay two and three times the money for a banjo of the same tone/ with the same features.

Regards,

Harry.

that's pretty much my opinion of the Ozark 2109G, the maple open-back. Not the greatest banjo in the world, but serious value for money and quality and tone are not so shabby either.

It's not a direct copy of the Gold Tone one, according to the website. Gold Tone has a Renaissance head and a mahogany neck, Ozark has a frosted top head and a walnut neck. Both list various combinations of maple rims and necks. So there are various possible sounds depending on what you are looking for
