Hey, yes well I live on Long Island, but i am in serioirs  need of tips/lessons. I just got my Tsugaru Shamisen earlier this week, and I am trying to learn some tips.  I mainly tune in D-A-D.   I have one with a three piece neck and fake skin.  I am willing to excange ideas or any info with you.  Lets talk :talk:

i only have the the book that came with it, and it's in Kanji.  I play by ear at the moment.  I try to play Yoshida brothers ahha. But i learn quick. But yeah ill meet u down town..maybe hit the sake bar after haha

no, i don't have that book.  i only have about 5 pages of music, and its all in Japanese.  I can't even read the tempo its one big guess.  Im guessing it's 3/4.   I play mainly by ear too.  This is the first music im trying to read just because i can't move the bachi that fast yet.

Yeah you’re right.  They sound so random.  I just figured out my tuner was not calibrated so now I sound a little better. 
Check your inbox i sent a bunch of links that have stuff for the tsugaru. Some are in japanese so you will need a translator.

I think they sound the same up until you hit the one key, then A sounds a little cleaner. But thanks for the music it sounds pretty kool!:cool: 

I found this lady who teaches taiko and shamisen on Long Island.  I have a meeting with her tomorrow.  She also does NYC ill let you know how it turns out.

i had my first lesson today and it was preatty good.  She gave me some sheet music to practice.  She performs in kabuki so the shamisen is not tsugaru.  But i feel i will learn something good!
