I'm located in the picturesque North Shore of Nassau County, the true roots of Appalachia.

Check out the PHILJ200 section of EZFolks for a sample of what I do and teach. Contact me here or PHILJ200@HOTMAIL.

Reasonable rates, will barter for chickens and hogs.

This section is actually becoming productive. I now have two students who've first met me here.

Bragging about my prize student!

I have a young and very dedicated teenager (14 years old) studying with me. He came to me for bluegrass and owns a nice middle-of-the-road Goldtone. He was well on the way to figuring out rolls and pieces on his own.

He absorbs material as fast as I can present it. Last night I taught him Blackberry Blossoms. He got it right away.  Then I gave him a jazzy version of Summertime. Yes, the Gershwin masterpiece. He got that too. Gershwin I believe wrote it in A-minor. But it works better for me in E-minor. Hs mother plays piano. He's going to surprise her and ask to play the piece as a duet (I gave him the sheet music). He's play capo'ed up five.

Along the way he's learning clawhammer. He's formed a band with a guitar picker and a standup bass. Had him bring the guitar picker along for a lesson so he could learn to backup a banjo.
