Tony, I don't know if this will help, but here is a composite of what happens.

Top clip is original line typed.

Next is the arrow to the EMO I want to use.

Last is the result of a CLICK to install the EMO.

I'm glad you didn't have a problem, and as for me, forget it.  Now that I know what is happening (for whatever reason), I'll just type my full reply and THEN put in the EMO.

Dusty

Dusty -

I think, if you scroll up from the emoticon, you'll find your post. It seems to me that if I try to enter one of these things, it always puts it at the very end of the post, after my signature line.

I've gone to only using the ones I know the code for and coding them directly where I want them. :)

I'll try that Brad.  Prior to this latest attempt(s) to use them, they would plug right in when I used one.

But I did not try a scroll to the bottom, as I thought I could see the full page already.

Dusty

Edit.  I tried it Brad.  But there is no scroll bar.  Look at the pictures of the composite in the TEST thread

And you'll see there is no scroll bar at the right or bottom.  I just tested your suggestion and no bars to use, and it just erased the line and plugged in the EMO.

But thanks for the suggestion.

Obviously my browser doesn't like the EMO on EZ.  But I can live with that.

Hello Tony.

:(  AHA! :D

I don't know how to fix it, but it seems IE doesn't like the emoticon interface!

Works fine with FF.

If you right click the reply field before you start, IE will allow you to place a smiley on the first line.

Well got the email notfications straightend out.

Dusty if you are in IE8 (internet Explorer 8) in XP or Vista try going to the "page" Drop down and see if "compatability view" is checked if not try checking it to see if that helps? If not check "Compatability Settings". EZ folk should be listed on there once its checked.

I really did not mean to stir the pot this badly.

I'm glad it's me and not a routine glitch, however.

Thanks Holley, but I won't use IE8 for some time yet.  It has a number of things wrong with it for dealing with some sites.

I do have FF and can use that if push comes to shove, but I really am not concerned about IE and the EMO here.  I can work around it, and with Tony experimenting as he has, I can use his last suggestion in addition to some things I have used in the last week or so.

Thanks again for all the suggestions, and I'm glad Tony has an entire arsenal of browsers to "test" with -I was going to say "play" but that didn't sound right.

Hi Dusty,

I know what you mean about IE8 from my experience the compatibility setting helped.

Unfortunately or maybe fortunately... Microsoft newer browsers are programed to eliminate popups phishing and much javascript programming because in many cases its been abused to create maleware etc. to latch itself on to your computer wreaking all kinds of havoc. Its a real pain to get them off!!

Dont ever make the mistake of giving your CC to a spoof Antivirus website that tells you need to purchase it to clean it. Microsoft.com has website tools you can remove that crap off for free.....Ok maybe this was too much information I gave... but it might be helpful to someone out there as there is a LOT of it going around right now.

Open source operating systems like Mepis with Firefox as a browser is the way to go.  It's free and doesn't collect and transmit data to anyone or company.  I'm never bothered by pop-ups and from what I've been able to determine spyware and malware codes cannot reach the operating system or files.  I suggest exploring this option and perhaps scraping Windows and IE.  I did three years ago and haven't looked back.  In the interest of full disclosure I do have XP on one of the partitions and use it for a few applications but rarely do I venture onto the Internet whilst that partition is mounted.

All the best

Peace,
Ed
