I'm wondering about a 4-string VS 6-string Baritone VS 6-string Tenor.   None nearby for me to try out  in these various configs.  Any comments?

The great majority of baritone ukes are 4-string; 6-string baritones are rare, and the only ones that I've seen are custom-built.  G-String makes one that sells for over $1,000:

The 6-string tenor is a unique type of uke.  It has 2 courses of paired strings and 2 single strings.  The high A-string is paired with a low-A, one octave lower.  The regular C string is paired with a high-C one octave higher.

G  - Cc - E - Aa

Lanikai makes a 6-string tenor with a solid spruce top and ovangkol back and sides, selling for only $170.

The acoustic electric version of the 6-string tenor sells for $219:

I recently bought a Lanikai 8-string tenor with a built-in pickup for $260 (solid spruce top, ovangkol back and sides).  It has 4 courses of paired strings.  The high E and A strings are doubled, while the G and C strings are octave tuned (high-G & low-G, high-C and regular C), somewhat like the tuning of a 12-string guitar.   Very nice, loud sound, plugged and unplugged.

The 8-string version without the pickup sells for $200, but is on back-order.

Here is an old forum thread discussing 6-string and 8-string ukes:
