I'm trying to make headway in learning the uke, so tried to use the tutorial section, however when I tried to view the videos of clawhammer style, my media player says it doesn't recognize the file type.  It is the latest version of Windows Media Player, so it's not a matter of updating.  Are the videos avaiable in some other form?  DVD? CD?  I don't fing the verbal description of clawhammer to be helpful.  Can you help me at all?  Thanks, Griffrank

I haven't used the tutorial videos here. But I've run into compatibility issues with Windows Media Player. It seems to prefer native Microsoft formats.

Suggest you Google a program called Winamp. It's freeware (you can buy more advanced versions). Download and install as any other program. It will play audio and video if most every format I've come across. It's fast, free and easy.

Good luck.

Hi Griffrank,

Sorry for the late reply. I overlooked this message yesterday.

Those videos are all plain vanilla WMV files, which should be viewable by virtually any version of Windows Media Player. I haven't heard anybody else say they couldn't view them. (If anybody else can't view them let me know please).

Here are direct links for the files we're talking about (I think -- if not, let me know):

http://ezfolk.com/mm/o-susanna.wmv

http://ezfolk.com/mm/mountain-dew.wmv

http://ezfolk.com/mm/under-the-double-eagle.wmv

http://ezfolk.com/audio/play.php?mode=video&band_id=2&video_id=116

The first three are tiny compared to most videos and shouldn't present a problem as long as your default player for WMV files is Windows Media Player. Are you sure it is? You can download those first three by right clicking on them and choosing "Save Target As," at least on a regular PC. That might help.

The last one is a little larger and plays from the MP3 section and is streaming only.

Let me know how it works out, and if others are having trouble with these please let me know.

:tip-hat2:

Thanks.  Winamp  seems to be working well.  Don't know what my Windows meda player is jammed up with, but i run into this fairly often.

Microsoft products, in my opinion, do not play well with others. I wish Adobe or Sun would come out with an operating system my PC could digest.
