I just got a new Bushman Baritone.  Overall I love the tone but the E and B strings are about 2 cents sharp when they are fretted.

The G String height is 0.0943" at the 12th fret.  I'm thinking this is a little high.

Anyone have any ideas on typical 12th fret action height and 1st fret height (nut depth)?

I've done a lot of setup work on Mandos, guitars, basses etc but this is my 1st uke.

Thanks!

Ok, I'll answer my own question...

I did some searching around and found a uke builder that recommends that the action at the 12th fret is between 0.080 and 0.090.

My intonation problems were resolved by cutting the nut slots deeper for the 1st and 2nd strings.

BTW if anyone is looking for a very inexpensive nut file set, pick up a welding torch tip cleaner file set at your local home center.  Do a Google search for  Lincoln Electric KH575 Home Depot and Sears have them for about $4.00.

Thanks for the info mdruziak! I know that will be helpful for the tweakers among us.

I tend to leave questions like that to those who know what they're talking about. Not only did I flunk industrial arts in school, but every time I try to set up an instrument it somehow ends up in worse shape than before I got ahold of it.

I have a hard time measuring anything smaller than 1/10 of a mile, and even for that I have to use a machine that weighs 2500 pounds and takes me 5 years to pay for.
