Tracy Newman

Tracy Newman is a television writer and producer. In 1997, she won an Emmy for co-writing the “coming out” episode of Ellen. In 2001, she co-created the ABC comedy, According to Jim, starring Jim Belushi, which is still going strong. She’s been writing songs since she was fourteen. One of Tracy's songs on ezFolk, "Laraine," was written for her half sister, Laraine Newman, who was one of the original stars of Saturday Night Live on NBC.

Tracy's song "Mama, I Know You Ain't Santa," which she co-wrote with Lynne Stewart, has just won second place in the prestigious Unisong contest, in the category of Seasonal/Specialty Songs.  You can hear the song at http://www.myspace.com/tracynewman1.

In addition, a few of Tracy's other songs have received honors at Unisong. "Hands off the Phone" is an Honorable Mention in the Folk/Acoustic category, "Cowboy" is in AAA/Alternative for an Honorable Mention, and the lyrics for "The Boy Who Mans the Waffle Irons," is one of the top 20 under the Lyrics category.

These songs are just so good in every way, lyrics, music, arrangement and production that I am at a loss for words for once. Do yourself a favour. Listen to them. Let us know when the album's ready Tracy.

Finally had a chance to sit and really listen to Tracy's music. She is VERY good. I'm looking forward to hearing more from her.

Welcome to ezFolk Tracy! Think you'll like it here.
