Dave Keir

Dave Keir has been playing guitar for nearly half-a-century and has a pedigree of European and UK tours and recordings.

His new CD, "Interim Reports", was released in August 2006, and is enjoying wide acclaim.

Dave is currently playing locally in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, and recording new songs for CD release in 2007. Plans are now getting underway for tours of the UK, Europe and the United States in 2007 / 2008.

From Dave's Bio...

I am an acoustic fingerstyle guitar player and songwriter out of (well, still in) Scotland - for the time being that'd be the north-east part that sticks out into the North Sea like a slumped shoulder. Google-map Banchory and you'll see my town (wee toon) is a grouse's flutter from Her Majesty's holiday cottage, Balmoral. The salmon in the Dee hereabouts is more famous than the grouse.

None of this has had any inspirational value on my songwrtiting which even superficial scrutiny will reveal a preoccupation with more organic phenomena. It is what it is - and if my playing gives the impression of a deep desire to get the song over and done with as quickly as possible, it is a merely a legacy of playing some of the dodgiest bars in Antwerp, Belgium, in the late 1970s.

Still, I maintain the burning desire that you will enjoy - even empathise - with some of my songs which are laid out like abandoned orphans here...

Cheers'n all!

Awesome choice, I found Dave over on myspace and was very impressed.  I really love "Red John", great fingerpicking!

Hi Richard!

I've just come across this and sprayed coffee over my keyboard! Being at my dayjob, this attracted a little attention and I had to close my browser and make some excuse about the coffee having gone down the "wrong way"....

I'm very humbled and excited. In truth, I've been away for a few days and haven't been able to log on - so this is a great suprise.

Thank you! :thumbs1:

Haha... Dave, you're a funny guy... not to mention a great guitar player a songwriter.

Glad to have you with us, and be careful with the coffee.

:2coffee:

Thank you everybody - and again to Richard for the spotlight! ;)

[Edit: there is a reason to join a place like this and upload songs; namely to get one's music "out there" and generate a wee bit of interest and hopefully strike a chord with some people. Richard has helped me do that, particularly regarding the spotlight, and I thank him. But there are also other reasons; as a songwriter it can be very easy to get silo'd and self-referential so I want to shake myself up a bit and stick my head above the walls and listen and learn from other writers and players and feel part of a community. So thanks everybody here for that opportunity.]
