 Erich Schroeder Erich is an amateur musican who lives in Central Illinois. Erich's first banjo was a kit-built mountain banjo in 1976 when he was in college. He played almost constantly for about 15 years, then pretty much went dormant (or stagnant) for another 15 years or so. The year 2006 was significant, being both his 30th year of banjo playing and the 50th year of his life, so he decided to get himself a substantially better banjo and also build a minstrel-style instrument. He has been having great fun remembering tunes and learning new styles. At the urging of his musical friend from years ago, Lyle Konigsberg, he has been putting up some of his tunes. Super! And I see Erich has been pretty busy loading up tunes at ezFolk. Be sure to listen to his minstrel banjo tunes played on the minstrel banjo he built. Excellent sound, and of historical interest to clawhammerers.

Good Morning, and thanks for the kind words! It's fun being in the spotlight once in a while. My thanks to Richard for including me, and particularly for setting up and running this site--great resource. I've just begun to look around over the past month or so. There's alot to listen to. Ha! Richard, nice job with the photograph. Makes me wish I had held the banjo backward and then reversed the image so that it would look like a daguerreotype of a banjoist. Hey Erich, Glad you liked what I did with the picture. I was trying to enlarge it a little bit and it just struck me like one of those old-time pictures you see with a guy playing the banjo so I thought the frame was kind of cool. Thanks for sharing your tunes!
