| So, I think similar topics to this have been covered such as favorite individual picker and old-time bands..but whats your favorite bluegrass band? Mine has been The Seldom Scene since the first time that I heard them. I've seen them in concert twice and they're music is so emotional it brings tears to my eyes. Unfortunately, I was the youngest person in attendance at both shows, outside of small children brought along cause their parents couldn't find a babysitter. The Seldom Scene has got the vocals, banjo pickin, and slide guitar playing to win the hearts of many. I cant wait to see them in Raleigh on June 4th at the Jam n Bluegrass Festival...Del Mccoury and The Seldom Scene back to back...cant miss! :laugh11: ...Yeah, same topic posted under "General Banjo" but that one ended up mainly talking about old-time players..lets hear of some favorite bluegrass bands! :fly: Last edited on Sun May 9th, 2004 04:26 am by GreasyStrings

One of my favourite recent vintage bluegrass bands is a band called Wildfire. I saw them at a festival up here a couple of years ago and really liked them. Also, the Gibson Bros. are very good.
I saw the Seldom Scene many years ago with John Duffy. He's a guy that could really sing and play bluegrass mandolin.

You mentioned one of my favorites in your little writeup there greasy----Del McCoury. Outstanding band members mixed with that unique voice of Del's makes for some good listening. Another band is Mountain Heart-----I liked the stuff I had heard from them from the start----but when I saw them at a festival in Maine, and down in Charlotte, NC-----I couldn't help but move them toword the top of my list. Great concert. I also love the Kruger Bros, Yonder Mtn. String Band, Steep Canyon Rangers, etc. etc. I could go on for hours!

A good band I enjoy is from the northern Shenandoah Valley of Virgina. SHENANDOAH BLUE's recent cd release is good, solid bluegrass. Look them up. Thanks and have a great day.
