Hi All,

Well its been a little while since I have posted, I have been slightly side-tracked the last couple of months. Changes at work and home (and the addition of a new baby in the house!) have meant things I want to do have taken a back seat in favour of the things I need to do! :)

That said I am still picking up the Dulcijo when I can and I think it's going reasonably well for a newbie :D and given that dedicated practice time is very much at a premium at present.

I have managed to take a few melody tabs for dulcimer and put something together sounding not too bad for a few tunes but I am still struggling (believe it or not) with Cripple Creek and Shady Grove. Does anyone have (or know where I can get hold of) a tab that will work on the Dulcijo for these two tunes please?

I would also appreciate some help tracking down tab for Will the circle be unbroken too (don't ask for much do I?)

Thanks & Kind Regards,

Mark

Hi Mark,

Glad you're still playing the Dulcijo. The only tablature for the Dulcijo as far as I know are the songs I tabbed out a while back on this page...

http://www.ezfolk.com/dulcijo/tablature/tablature.html

There doesn't seem to be hardly any interest in tabs for the Dulcijo so I'm not likely to add more any time soon, but if it will help, I'd be glad to let you know which frets the melody is on. As you know from playing, everything else is basically the same... add the bum ditty or whatever.

Let me know if that'll help and I'll post them here.

:hat:

Thanks for your reply Richard,

I have used (and still do use) the Dulcijo tabs you have transcribed for us and find them very helpful. In fact Keep on the Sunny Side is one of my favourite tunes (in my limited repetoire) to play on the Dulcijo. Regarding my tab request, yes the melody would help me greatly, as you say it's all I actually need, I am confident I can get something workable from just the melody.

Thanks again, your help is very much appreciated.

Hey Mark,

Here's the basic melody for the songs you wanted. As you know, you can just fill it in with the bum ditty wherever it's appropriate. I'll trust your judgment!

Be careful about counting the frets because there's a 6 and a 6+ in there. If you need a refresher on that you can find it here...

http://www.ezfolk.com/dulcijo/tutorials/diatonic-scale/diatonic-scale.html

Let me know how it goes and feel free to ask if something's unclear.

:hat:

Notes:
1) If I say the 7th fret it's actually the 8th because there is a 6+ fret after the 6th fret.
2) Since most melody notes are on the 1st string I'll just put the number of the fret unless it's on the 2nd string, in which case I'll put it in parentheses. For example, 4 just means 1st string 4th fret, but (2-4 would means 2nd string 4th fret.

Cripple Creek
-------------

7 7 4 2 3 5 4

2 2 0 0 (2-0) (2-1) 0

(Repeat those 2 lines)

2 2 0 0 2 2 4

2 2 0 0 (2-0) (2-1) 0

(Repeat those 2 lines)

----------------------------------------------------------

Shady Grove
(This one's a little tricky. You need to play it high to get the minor notes. Remember there is a 6+ fret... you don't play that one in this song, so when you play the 7th fret (the 2nd dot if you're on a standard Dulcijo) you go down 2 frets to get to the 6th fret.)
-----------

7 7 7  8 7 6

7 7 8 10 11  11

13 13 11  10 8 6

7 7 8 6 7

-----------------------------------------------------------

Will the Circle Be Unbroken
(Down the Neck version)

(2-0) (2-1) 0  0

2 1 0   2

2 2 1   0   (2-1)  0  (2-0)

(2-0) (2-1) 0  0

2 4 4   2

0 1 2   0  1  2 1 0

--------------------------
Will the Circle Be Unbroken
(Up the Neck version)

4 5 7   7

9 8 7   9

9 9 8   7   7   5    4

4 5 7   7

9 11 11   9

7 8 9   7   8   9 8 7

Thank You, that's super :D
