Hi Folks I recently had a chance to fully use the Kristal Audio Engine http://www.kreatives.org/kristal/ which is a free (for personal/educational use) multitrack recording package for PC. I have to say, as someone, who uses Cubase on a Mac, that it's a great pity there isn't a Mac version of this, because it seems excellent - in fact eerily similar to the basic Cubase versions. A very 'lite' program (very few plug-ins) but you can easily add useful VST filters (compressors, limiters etc). For recording, and mixing and mastering tracks recorded elsewhere, it is very user friendly. I think this program has been (briefly) discussed here previously, but a friend of mine, who had no prior experience with this sort of software, has recently started using it, and the recorded quality of the stuff he's done recently has noticeably improved. The look and operation of the program are very professional, and the editing and file import/export very non-destructive. Worth trying, I would say. Dan
