I noticed Goldtone has a bridge in their parts section of their web site. It mentions an articulated 3rd string. What does that mean? I have a buzzing 3rd if I play loud, would this help that situation? I don't want to raise the action more that it is already. Also I'm having problems adusting my arm rest to keep it off the tension hoop. The bracket on the rest seems kind of flimsy where it attaches to the tension screw posts thus letting it work its way back down onto the tension hoop. Have read how this can rob sound from the banjo. I like a really crisp sound and seem to be fussing with it too much... maybe this is the problem? What do you think? Jim

Jim... have you checked out Bart Veerman's webpage about bridges? He's quite the expert on the subject and is really helpful. Here's the address: http://www.haruteq.com/bridges.htm Also be sure and check out the frets.com banjo setup guide... http://www.frets.com/FRETSPages/pagelist.html

By articulated 3rd string it probably means compensated for the 3rd string. If it buzzes that's a different story, you might need to put on a new string or clean up the string slot a bit. Could be there's some crud in the slot, or wood fibers that have frayed. An easy way to clean/dress up the slot is to use a welding tip reamer, you can get them in tool stores or Home Depot. They come in a set (about $4) and pick the one closest in thickness to the string slot you wanna clean. Gently tease the reamer back and forth through the slot, don't apply pressure - you're not [supposed to be] sawing. Good luck, Bart.
