Dusty-

Not an oxymoron - Military Intelligence is a fable - with no moral(s)!

Smiffy-

Explain 'tug,' please, to us'ns on this side o' de pond.

Brad

Ah!  Brad, a tug can be lots of things.  It can be one of those wee boats that push ships around in the docks, or rescue them when they're disabled at sea.

A tug can be a sharp pull, or even a long strenuous pull ( as in tug-o'-war), it can be a series of pulls of varying intensity and languidity.

A tug can be made on your heart-strings when you see a new born baby and cause little droplets to form in the corner of your eye.  A tug is what you feel when a fish bites at your line.

Now I come to analyse the word I realise that there are probably just two general meanings.  I tend to exaggerate.

Hope this makes things patently opaque for you.  :D

If I had to choose, I'd go the tug o' war one. Sounds good the way you described it smiffy.

"Hey Brad!  You forgot: Military intelligence"

--Military Music?

Did it ever bother anyone when they see a sign that says SPEED ZONE, it really means slow down?

If a man who drinks is a drunkard, why is a thinking man a thounkard?

A drunkard is a man who drinks too much,  ergo, by logic, there would be very few, if any, thunkards!
