There's a singe note in the (parital measure?) before the G-chord is given in the level 1 of Mountain Dew. How is that note related to the chord?

That pick-up note is a G note, but it is purely a melody lead-in note (They) in the song and really unrelated to the chord that is used in the first full measure. You will notice that it is only used on the initial time through the tab, is is not played for the repeats. Does this help?

I guess it does. Thanks for the answer. This is my first attempt at learning to play a song on the banjo. So I realize I'm asking fundamental questions. Looking at what Mr Hefner's done with levels and slowed down midis looks like I might make some progress this time.
