Can anyone help?
When I installed TEFview, the fingerboard was there.
Now it's not - and I can't make it appear again.

I have tried everything,
"[Ctrl]+B", "score >options > screen > fingerboard >apply >OK",
"display >fingerboard".

I have uninstalled and re-installed TefVeiw 3 times to no avail.

Has anyone any idea why this should be happening? I would really appreciate some help , as I can't read music , and need that fingerboard.

I have written to Mr Saturn at Tabledit- and will post any reply here, if I get one.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

Jim

I realize this is a music forum, as do you, but.

When you are asking questions about computer program applications (tabledit) you must detail the specifications of your computer system.

What is your Opsystem (XP,W2K, W98, linux etc.), the graphic *video card*, and other system info.

Loss of graphics, or files in a system stem from many different factors not the least of which is the composition of your system specs and the interaction of that system with the application.

With that information as a starting point, someone with experience with that system and problem can help or steer you in the right direction.

Thank you TheBlackman,
I do realise its a music forum.
I'd been searching for hours and hours for a solution, and this site came up in a search (lucky for me).

My OS is XP, video-card, I don't have a clue. The fingerboard was there all week, then it vanished. I naturally assumed it was a problem with the application, not my computer as everything else works fine.
I'm just hoping someone out there has had the same problem and fixed it!

Still, I suppose I've done the best thing in writing to Tabledit.

I will be visiting this forum and this site again - Hopefully will restrict myself to matters musical - although its getting harder to avoid the technology these days don't you think?

Jim

Jim-

Thanks loads!

I just went and tried to see how to get the fingerboard on the screen. The best I can get now is a keyboard. I know I used the fingerboard a short while ago (usually for the fiddle), but not now!

I will do some more searching. I have the same problem in the full program, now!

Don't know what happened, need to investigate further - I'm on an iMac.

Brad

(incidently, welcome to ezFolk!)

No problem.  I did not mean you should not post your question.  What I meant was that without the specs, the question is too open ended.

As for your specs, go to http://www.belarc.com  download the ADVISOR program and run it.  It is small and will detail the complete complement of applications, operating system and SP data, and the internals:  RAM, Vcard, Sound (on-board or plugin) and the CPU etc.

The program is free, small and non intrusive.  After you run it  make a printout and file it.  Then, if in the future, you have problems with the computer or an application you will have all the details for posting, or for your techie when he troubleshoots.

Regarding TEF this is the right place, but the other contributor is your computer, what you may have added, what you may have changed.

You can try RESTORE, from the XP accessories list.  That should put your computer back to the last "good" time you ran Tabledit.

Email me if you want to discuss or trouble shoot some.

PROBLEM SOLVED

Thanks TheBlackman,
I did as you suggested and restored the computer to how it was on the 15th Sept (a time when I had the fingerboard).
Everything is back to normal now. I hope this works for Brad too - though his problem seems slightly different, and he uses a Mac.

OK.  Now go to RESTORE and SET A RESTORE point for NOW.  That will give you a backkup if it happens again.

It is a good idea to make a RESTORE POINT before you add any new programs or make any other major changes in your system.  That way if you have a problem you can go to that point and start over.
