Clay, thanks for the words of wisdom.  I agree wholeheartedly.  I have a song about my son Adam I wrote awhile back:

play hi-bitrate
play lo-bitrate

I apologize for hijacking this thread:

Very Beautiful song Mike.......

These are the words many parents want to convey to their children but just don't know how.... We are the lucky ones for we are able to express our feelings....

God bless

clay

Note to Richard: Sorry to use this thread for things not intended but i cannot resist a chance to talk and therefore feel close to my son.........

No apology necessary about getting off the topic. I'm glad to see you talking about something that means so much.

We're off to a great start with the Patriotic songs and I hope everybody will keep them coming.

There's another new one today by Bill Furner that everybody should take a listen to. Bill is an amazing guitarist. Here's a link to his patriotic song...

When Johnny Comes Marching Home (by Bill Furner)

play hi-bitrate (mp3) (broadband)
play lo-bitrate (mp3) (dial-up)

Be sure not to miss this one. It's about 6-1/2 minutes long and is just about the most spectacular guitar solo I've ever heard.

What a WONDERFUL recording of "When Johnny Cmes Marching Home."  Never heard anything like it.  I am amazed at the talent possessed by the members of this forum.  Sometimes when I hear your great music, I want to quit because you are so far above me.  At other times I am inspired to keep going because I can see what I can aspire to in my own humble way.  When I hear your music, I wish there was more of a market for it instead of some of the stuff I hear on the radio today.  I am really glad that we have this forum for the talented musicians to share your music with us.

Hi Cindy,

Thanks for sharing your song with us. The shortcut to it wasn't quite right so I fixed it, and I also added a shortcut to your MP3 page on ezFolk.

Thank you Richard,

I'm getting all the computer stuff figured out but I've got a lot of other things going on this summer that are really distracting( failing health on one side and a legal custody battle on the other) to my music and art. I appreciate your patience.

Cindy

Hi Richard,

I took a crack at recording the Star Spangled Banner on my mahogany tenor.  Hope to record a new version of God Bless America in the next few days.

http://ezfolk.com/audio/play.php?band_id=26&song_id=4981&mode=song_hifi

http://ezfolk.com/audio/play.php?band_id=26&song_id=4981&mode=song_lofi

I don't know how to shorten the links up with the "Play Hi Fi and Low Fi" like the others in this thread.  Guess that's what I get for not hanging around more often.

Hey Dom,

Your ukulele version of Star Spangled Banner is outstanding... thanks for sharing! I hope you'll consider doing more PD tunes that you can share with us.

Richard,

Here is a quick take on Stars & Stripes.  My wife is sick of hearing it at this point and the studio is within her earshot.  Maybe I will get a chance to re-due it before the 4th.

Thanks for bringing this particular co-op to my attention as, most likely, I would have never worked out these arrangements.

Richard,

As it turns out my wife went to bed early tonight so I was able to record a couple more takes and though not perfect the current one at the links above is much better.

I have the beginnings of a blister on the inside of my thumb:shock:.  Ouuch!  But it was fun working this arrangement out.

Dom... That's Spectacular!

Tell your wife that she's lucky... she could be married to one of us mere mortals, and would have to listen to us hacking away trying to learn something like that... and never getting it right!

Thanks for taking the time to share that with us.

Very nice.....   I haven't been able to check on this thread as much as I wanted too... but, as for all the songs on here, There is such a wonderful collection of patriotic pieces here... this is really a great idea... perhaps it will help spur some more pride in Old Glory that seems to be lacking as of late... It would be nice if this could get some good exposure... but I don't know even how to begin to get something going like that.. I have contacted our local stations.. but they are all conglomerate owned, and said that the programming director can make some deviations, especially for something patriotic, but I guess someone from EZfolk like Richard would have to contact someone like Clear Channel in order to get radio broadcast play of the program... I was told they might be interested, but it's alot of work, and probably pretty iffy... anyway, Just wanted to say, I love all the stuff I have heard so far...
Thank you all for the wonderful music you make...

Wow...I haden't been checking this thread...looks like I've got a lot of catchin up to do!:cool:

I learned from my parents several months ago, that "Don't Fence Me In" was one of the most popular songs at the close of WW II. Every time we play it for seniors, this is confirmed, as it really seems to touch them. I don't think it's public domain, but here is a recording (hosted on our site) from yesterday. It's the most patriotic we got so far.
