Hi, I'm a new member with old recordings to share.  I've uploaded seven of them on my  ezFolk page:

Tony's Page on EZFolk.com

I would be thrilled to hear your thoughts on any or all of the songs.

This is a really cool site!

Thanks, Banjo Brad, for the encouragement and advice.

I'm playing an el-cheapo japanese banjo, which my parents bought for me when I was still a kid.  It went unplayed for years, because I grew frustrated with my loss of rhythm when I tried to get my bluegrass rolls up to speed.  I later discovered frailing and found that it suited me well.  A few years ago I did a little playing out, and became known as "the Banjo Man" at our local open mikes, mainly because no one else around here would play that "God-forsaken instrument".  Played in a local band called (very aptly) the Chapter Eleven Band.  We did a  mixture of pop, Irish songs, sea chanteys, and drinking songs.  We were pretty bad, but we had fun.

I can fake a few of the traditional tunes: Sourwood Mountain, Shady Grove, Old Joe Clark, Wildwood Flower...  Oh Lordy borrows its structure, (and more,) from Cripple Creek, (and probably dozens of other old tunes.)

Thanks, 1four5, I just had a minute before heading off for work to give a listen to some of your songs.  "Man of Constant Sorrow" really rocks! Sounds like you guys have as much fun as the Chapter Eleven Band did!

Brad, I tried to access your music page, but it kept freezing.  Tried disabling popup and ad blockers, but it still froze.

Tony-

Which site were you trying to get to? I just tried links to both my ezFolk and my homepage, and they seem to work ok.

Yesterday I was doing a lot of work on the Prickly Pear site, did a revamp of the music page, and the theme, so maybe that had something to do with it. Try again and let me know.

Anybody else have problems with my sites? (NOT you, Dean :P )

:2banjo: Save the whales. Collect the whole set.

Hiya Tony! Haverhill eh? I once did a "wrong way Corrigan" coming from a party in Milford looking to get back down to Hartford, CT....musta missed 90 altogether - ended up in an ice storm on 495 so we got a motel room - woke up the next morning in Haverhill....wrong way indeed

Anyway.....I really enjoyed Oh Lordy! I was trying to figure out what kind of banjo you were playing then I went back and reread your post....Ah So!

Well, you make it sound great :D

It's the ezFolk site.  I got to your music on Prickly Pear just fine.  (And fine music it is, too.  Really enjoyed Soldier's Joy.)  I just tried again to access your music on ezFolk, and, when I click on to an album, all I get is the ezFolk logo on an otherwise blank page, and the hourglass indicates that the page is still loading ad infinitum.  I'm not having that problem with other pages on ezFolk.

Thanks, beeconk.

I imagine that the only reason anyone would ever get a motel room in Haverhill MA, would be if they were lost in an ice storm, or some other travel-threatening disaster!   If you're ever lost...  Milford!  That's almost in South America, isn't it?!!  That must have been some ice storm!  ...but, as I was saying, If you ever get blown off course and wind up in Haverhill again, we'd be happy to put you up.

Now I'm going to go and give a listen to some of your music from South America.

Edit: Couldn't find a listing for you. Do you have a music page?

Hmmm -

Did you click on the button, or the Album name? The button starts to play the entire listing under that album. The name takes you into the album and you can pick the songs hifi or lofi.

I don't have any problem.

Richard? Is there something going on?

Brad,

I checked out your ezFolk pages and everything seems to be working fine. The Clawhammer Banjo album has 18 songs so it loaded slower than the others, but otherwise everything seems to be okay.

Yeah, I have to look into splitting that album, 'cause I'm going to post some more soon.
Thanks, Richard.

Incidently, the links from my Prickly Pear site are directly to the songs posted here.

I don't have an EZfolk page yet - I do have some older stuff over on Nowhere Radio though

http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/album.php?aid=4644&alid=-1

It's been awhile since I've cut any tunes...mostly been focusing on Ukulele since Christmas and my banjo playing has been on hold as a result.

I'm near ready to post my first original uke song with 3 verses of lyrics...just got to find the time now...all the practicing and revisions are done.

edited to add: I forgot I posted a snippet of the uke tune in progress there as well

"Sally's in the Kitchen"

Great stuff, Brian!  Cluck Old Hen is a fave, and Emma's Lullaby is a really lovely composition.  It taps into dimensions most of us forget we can coax from the banjo.

All of my stuff is "older" stuff.  Stuff I've had on tape for years, but never really shared.  Even when I did play out, I rarely did any of my own stuff.  Of course, most of the places where I played there was a Hockey game going on over my left shoulder.  Every once in a while I'd get a great round of applause from the audience, only to find out it was because the Bruins scored.

The first time I played in a coffee house where people actually listened, I was scared to death!

Don't do much playing or recording now, but it's really neat having a site like this to try my old stuff out on.

Man Snoup!!! You got it bad for the little beagle!!! ...The first album I ever had was the Royal Guardsman...with the Snoopy vs. the Rad baron songs...to this day I can recite all the words to all three songs:) "Snoopy circled back to check his skill...he saw the bloody red Baron standing high on a hill...."

Yeah, he's my alter ego.  I'm actually good ol' wishy washy Charlie Brown.

Here's a fun web page for Snoopy fans:

I remember only the first song and the Christmas song - and only the chorus at that.  I don't know if that means you've got it worse than me, or just that my memory's in worse shape than yours.  I don't think I have all zheimers, but I may have some.

Ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty, or more,

The bloody Red Baron was rollin' up a score.

Eighty men died tryin' to end that spree

Of the bloody Red Baron of Germany...

and back to the thread...I think...when I was a kid I loved that tune as well. I bought a hardcover copy of Snoopy and The Red Baron when I was 9 or 10. My two older brothers used to play guitars and sing the Royal Guardsmen's tune and I'd provide various air combat "sound effects" whilst straddling the arm of the sofa as if it were the top of a doghouse.

A few whiffs from a helium balloon and I could do a pretty fair "Snoopy" as well
