Hi,

I just joined the site. I placed a video (Marc Twang "The Car Song") on my page. The streaming is sadly slow! Can barely play 10 seconds without rebuffering. The video is just under 100MB. I have a very fast cable connection but the stream rate diplayed on the Real Palyer is 10 KBS. So my question is: Can I expect the stream rate to improve in the near future? There is no point having a great video up on the site if it's only going to frustrate anyone who tries to view it.

Thanks,

Marc Twang:(

Marc,

It may be the file type you've used for the video.  Try converting the video to .wmv format.  Unfortunately the .smi file didn't open for me on this site so I wasn't able to view the video in question with out downloading and saving it.

Peace,
Ed

Marc:

I have checked your video link, and it shows that your video is posted in the .mov format.  Videos posted to ezFolk must be converted to Windows Media Video (.wmv) format to work properly.  There are audio/video format converter software available for download, and most of them will work for free for a limited trial time, with the option to buy.  Here's one link:

Actually the best and fastest format for ezFolk is FLV (Flash Video). It's also the only format that plays in the Flash video player in the Flashback theme. To see an example, try playing the video player at the top of my video page here...

Hi, Marc,

I have my browser set to open .mov files in Quicktime Player, which is the native player for .mov files.  Your video played flawlessly for me.  I also happened to be watching at a time when the traffic on ezFolk is light.  When the traffic gets congested, the ezFolk server gets somewhat constipated.

Nice video and cute song, by the way!

Cheers,

By the by, many new cameras are filming in Mpeg4 which a lot of the older editors won't work with.

This free program will convert from nearly any format into any other.  As many times or versions as you might need.

From .MOV to FLV, or FLV to WMV, or WMV to AVI and so on.  I use it all the time.

Go to the VIDEO CONVERTER.

Thanks all........

I guess there is an unusual amount of congestion in these parts. (California.. Bay Area). The only format that streams here w/o stopping and stuttering is WMV. But it takes forever to load the buffer. Doesn't start playing until 100% of the file is loaded.

I rarely have any problems with videos so I think this is an EZ Folk technical issue.

Marc
