This may has been dicussed before, but here goes.

How does an individual song get rated? What determines the position of songs on the song rating chart?

I had several songs rated quite well on the song rating chart but they have vanished. Did the song rating format change?

Hi Jamey,

Are you talking about the overall music charts, like these?...

http://www.ezfolk.com/audio/index.php?t=chart_audio&d=7

That's not a rating chart but is based on how many times songs have been played.

I don't think we're generating a song rating chart currently. There's an artist rating chart here...

http://www.ezfolk.com/audio/index.php?t=browse_artist&o=9

Nothing's changed in the way songs are rated. There used to be an option to rate an artist (in addition to rating songs, etc.), but now the artist rating chart is computed as the average of all ratings an artist receives (songs, videos, photos). That means if you have all 5's then you'll be one of the top artists. If you have ten 5's you'll be rated higher than someone who has less than that (9 or fewer). It's not a perfect rating system of course but it's what we've got to work with. An obvious problem, for example, would be if somebody had 100 ratings and 99 of them were 5's and only one was a 4, then they would be rated below someone who had only one "1" rating. In the future we might be able to take all of that into account but for now that's how it works.

Jamey, I noticed in your case your artist rating is 4.93 so you probably have quite a few 5 ratings and maybe only 1 or 2 that are less than that. That puts you below everybody with a perfect 5. I just looked and there are over 500 artists with a perfect 5. All it takes is one rating that's not a 5 to plummet any of those down below everybody else with a 5, so it's definitely thin ice when you have a 5.

My own rating is 3.87 so I'm way down the totem pole somewhere. I don't really know where and it's really not important. Currently the only place I'm aware of (I could be wrong) that the artist rating is listed except on their page is on the Community Page here...

http://ezfolk.com/audio/index.php?t=jr_community

Only the top four are listed there, and I think those change pretty often since all it takes is a rating of less than 5 to move any or all of them to about 500th place or lower, but then they'll be replaced by other people who somebody thinks shouldn't be there.

Okay... I see the page now at least. Are you getting to that page through a direct link? If so, where is it?

The only place I'm seeing it is when you click on "Newest Songs" on the front page, then click on "Rating" at the top of that page... or is there a more direct link that I don't remember?

I wouldn't take it too personal about getting kicked off of that page. All it takes is one vote that's not a 5. I haven't kept up with those ratings but my guess would be that those songs rotate pretty often.

Apparently I'm rated at zero.

I'm sad. :(

Oh well. I got my ukulele here. And bourbon! :D

HH... I just looked at your ezFolk page and it says you're rated as a "5" so it looks like you can hold off on the bourbon.
