I haven't been around for a while but when I came today I found my location had been changed to Algeria!

I'm really still in Westchester County, NY.

Yep... Being listed from "AFRICA: Algeria" is the result of users not changing their location when we added the alphabetical drop-down menu for location. If no choice is made it automatically defaults to the first location on the list, which is Algeria. I just took a look and there are still 66 users who haven't changed it. I made an announcement in a user email that was sent out but most people probably don't read it. At first there were hundreds so most of them have been changed. I wouldn't mind changing the other 66 myself but I don't know where most people are from so I'll just wait and let everybody change their own.

Even more of a mess was when we started having a drop-down menu for the song genres. The first genre (alphabetically) was "Accordion" and there were hundreds of songs that landed there (unfortunately virtually none of them contained accordion music). I decided to ditch the "Accordion" genre altogether and instead made "Acoustic" the first genre. Now there are about 1,500 songs in the Acoustic genre, most of which would fit better elsewhere but at least they're not listed as accordion songs. Anybody who reads this might want to consider moving any songs they have in the "Acoustic" genre to something more specific.

Hey Richard,

Thanks for pointing this out although I must have reacted to your email even though I don't remember doing so.

That said, I noticed, whilst making sure I wasn't one of the 66 or claiming to be an accordion player, that in the song genres "Irish" is included but in the Artist genres it's not.  Consequently I've listed myself in the "Celtic" genre.  If, and only if, it is not a great hassle to modify this I would be very appreciative if "Irish" could be added to the Artist's genres.  Somehow using "Celtic" to describe the music I mostly play is to me equivalent to using "European" to describe Classical music.  I know it's become somewhat of an industry standard, albeit in my opinion a misnomer.

Thanks for listening and as well for all you do to keep EzFolk such a brilliant site to showcase our music.

All the best!

Peace,
Ed

Hey Ed... I'm sorry about that oversight. I've added "Irish" as an artist genre now so you can switch to that. I don't know that much about Celtic or Irish music so I thought they were kind of interchangeable.

For anyone else who wants to be listed in a genre that's not available let me know and I'll be happy to add any that are appropriate.

Thanks Richard, and please there is no need to apologize.  Jaysus man with all you do I felt a little bad even bringing it up.  Sort of like the guy who's offered a free steak only to complain about how it is cooked.

You're the best my friend.

Peace,
Ed
