My stuff that's posted here is certainly not "Folk" music but neither is it hard.

My second project is Very aggressive rock. Can I post it here or do I have to find another home for that?

It depends on what you consider as folk. There are folk rock, folk metal, even folk punk.

Example? Vintersorg, Folkearth, Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, The Pogues, Against ME!, Finntroll, Great Big Sea, Skyclad, Waylander, The Mahones, The Real McKenzies, The Bloody Irish Boys, Empyrium, $wining Utter$, Fiddler's Green, Roaring Jack, Sufjan Stevens, Falkenbach, Agalloch, Subway to Sally, Korpilanni, and Tyr are some good examples.

If you think folk is basically country and bluegrass, 60s rock, oldtime music and traditional music, then you need to learn at the music scene today.

What usually consult folk music is that it appeal to the common people and get in touch with roots music. There is a reason why you hear terms like neofolk, urban folk, folk revival and so on.

Folk music is more about the feel of the song, wheither it is in the lyrics, how the instruments are played or even the choice of the instruments. It does not matter if it is aggressive or slow, modern form of music or older genres of music, as long the artist is able to convey the value of folk.

Some artists like to include folk instruments such as the accordion, flute and fiddle, others like to use traditional songs, such as "Whiskey in the Jar" that was covered by many traditional, hard rock, punk and metal bands, in a new direction, some are in it for revival of ideologies and religions such as romanticism, neopaganism, and the occult. Some of them sing about the history of their country.  Others like Bob Dylan, Jefferson Airplane, Neil Young and so on sung about the urban life.

Even then, singer-songwriters usualy end up getting lumped in the folk genre, even if they are not "folksy".

Looking at your stuff on ezFolk, a lot of them can fall under folk music across the many spectrum of variety that had been created since the 1960s.

Sorry for the long post if that wasn't your concern.

Anyway, I don't think there is one, considering the range of options for genres in your profile.

This is great! (No sarcasm intended). Why don't you check out some of my music posted on MySpace - http://www.myspace.com/pleasantbud

or at music forte - http://www.musicforte.com/member/pleasantbud.

Is this appropriate (or at least not inappropriate) for EZFolk?

Mostly I'd like to consolidate my music into one place.

Again. I liked the long post and appreciate the fact that you thought me important enough for your time.

Hey Bud,

Sorry I didn't respond to your sooner... I've been away from the computer most of the weekend.

I listened to some of your songs on Music Forte and they're fine. I'd be happy for you to put all of your music on ezFolk. I'm not concerned that everything on ezFolk is what is considered just "folk music." There's a wide variety already and more variety will be fine.

Any good music is certainly welcome. There are basically only a couple of things that I don't want and those are covered in the user license and I've mentioned them in the forums as well. Because ezFolk is listed as a "family friendly" site in several directories we don't want music that contains profanity or that type of thing. Also, of course, nothing that would violate any copyrights.

Nothing I heard in your music is offensive at all, but if any songs would violate those guidelines then it would be best not to upload those. Otherwise, put 'em on, and let me know if I need to add any genres and I'll be happy to.

:tip-hat2:

I am reminded of a certain Armstrong quote: "All music is folk music. I ain't never heard a horse sing a song."

Haha... I like that... hope you don't mind if I steal it.

By the way, who's Armstrong?

OK. I added 10 songs, called it rock.

Thanks for the genre. Have a listen, tell me if it's rock.

Or have a listen and I hope you like it
