The way videos are handled on ezFolk is now much improved over previously. Although you can no longer upload MPG files, the quality of the WMV, FLV, and MOV videos is now excellent.

If you have videos that are already on YouTube and you'd prefer using the YouTube videos instead of uploading videos to ezFolk, there is an easy option to just plug in the YouTube code for your video and make it a part of your ezFolk video pages.

There is a main video page in the MP3 section that will choose a random artist each time the page is loaded...

Towards the bottom of the page there are four additional tabs for:
  1. Top Videos
  2. Highest Rated Videos
  3. Newest Videos
  4. Most Download Videos
Also, for artists who would like to allow free streaming but sell downloads of their videos, the purchase information is prominently displayed, making it easier for users to purchase downloads.

As mentioned above, MPG and MPEG files can no longer be uploaded in the video section but since they previously were allowed, there are some in there on individual artist pages. Those artists should either convert those videos to one of the other formats (WMV, FLV, or MOV) or let me know they need help, and I'll be glad to help out on converting them and re-uploading... just let me know (oh, and I'll be gone this weekend but can help out starting Monday, 08/11/08)

I used the youtube link feature to add two new videos here on ezFolk.  My site was using the Cobalt theme and it appears you cannot use the embedded feature from youtube on this theme or the Flashback theme. No biggie, I just moved back to the MediaPro theme but Richard, I thought I'd report it to you so you knew - it looks like if you want to use one of the older themes you have to upload here to ezFolk.

That's correct... If you want to embed YouTube videos you need to use the new MediaPro theme.

That's also the case for all of the improvements in the videos... you won't see any improvements unless you're using the new MediaPro theme.

Neal,

You can embed videos in here but you might get different results with different formats. If you're using Internet Explorer 7 you should see four different icons in the edit tools at the top that will allow you to embed Flash, WMV, RealMedia, and QuickTime objects.

Tony Provencher had some additional info about how he embedded the video in this message...

http://www.ezfolk.com/forums/forum8/6304.html

Read his explanation in that forum message for how he did it.
